An alternative is the ferry from Rostock to Gedser. This crossing takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. From Gedser it is also a 1 hour and 45 minute drive to the Øresund Bridge.
Keep in mind that while the drive to Rostock might be similar in distance depending on your starting point, the crossing itself takes about 45 minutes longer.
